Shelter Island, NY, May 24, 2017– Shelter Island Democratic Committee announces newest candidates
The Shelter Island Democrats had a record crowd this past Sunday at the Flying Goat. The slate for Campaign 2017 includes two new candidates with strong ties to Shelter Island. Albert Dickson, Chairman WAC, has been selected to run for Town Council in November. Also, newly appointed Assessor Craig Wood will be running for election. In addition, the following candidates will be running for re-election: Jim Dougherty, Supervisor and Jay Card, Jr., Highway Superintendent. Reaching across the aisle, the committee supports Dorothy Ogar, Town Clerk, and Patricia Castoldi, Assessor. SIDC Chair Heather Reylek said in her remarks that, “We support people based on the public service they perform.” The Democrats were joined by special guests NYS Assemblyman Fred Thiele, Suffolk County Democratic Committee Chair Rich Schaffer, County legislator Bridget Fleming and David Calone, past primary candidate for Congress.
