Shelter Island Superintendent of Highways
Brian Sherman, candidate for Shelter Island Highway Superintendent brings years of experience to the position. Currently a Foreman at the Highway Department/Transfer Station he has served the public since 1989. He has 30 years of experience that includes the capping and closing of the landfill and he worked building the new highway building. He runs the Hazmat program and the scale house program and has experience with accounts receivable and billing. He assisted Highway Superintendent Jay Card with their Green Day annual educational presentation in addition to numerous tasks. Mr. Sherman has extensive knowledge of equipment, scheduling, negotiations of recyclables and budgeting. A lifelong Islander, he looks forward to his new role.
